    Dr. Dechamma Ballaranda DVM
    Veterinarian / Owner

    Dr. Ballaranda hails from coffee grower community in Southern India. Just after graduation, being passionate about animal welfare she started working for animal shelters (SPCA Bangalore) and other animal welfare organizations. She worked in New-Delhi for an Animal shelter affiliated to RSPCA (Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) U.K., as a Veterinarian in charge for 4 years. Afterwards, she was a surgeon at a small animal referral hospital run by the Federal Government in New-Delhi for 6 years. Dr. Ballaranda completed the ECFVG program for foreign veterinarians before joining Banfield, the Pet hospitals in 2007.

    She wanted a place that she could call her own and that i€™s exactly what she got from the lovely caring family of East Detroit Animal Hospital. She believes in building a strong relationship with patients and clients by empowering clients through proper preventative care education and teamwork.

    While not at work she loves to spend time with her family, and nothing comforts her more than her furry babies Dyno and Rea. She likes to travel as you can guess. She says, 'I pretty much work, eat, pray, love.'

    Accountant

    The man behind the scenes. In charge of budgeting, receivables, and accounts payable; Scott's budgeting and planning skills has allowed the hospital to acquire new equipment as well as update the work place environment. Scott is our happy and smiling face of Monday mornings!

    Veterinary Nurse, Hospital Manager

    Kellie's the 'go getter' of EDAH. As a Veterinary Nurse, Certified Ultrasound Technician, and Hospital Manager, she over sees the day to day operations. Kellie's passion at work is veterinary dentistry (ask her to show you some pictures!). She makes sure that every patient and pet parent is comfortable and as happy as they can be. She has fur babies of her own: Jena and PJ (Shiba Inu's), Roxy (GSD),  Misty (DSH) and the trouble maker Berlios (DSH). Kellie believes that pets leave paw prints that last a lifetime.

    Matthew B
    Veterinary Assistant

    A student at the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor for completion of his Bachelor’s Degree in Genetics and with a minor in Microbiology. Matthew joined our clinic in March of 2021. Matthew shows a passion for veterinary medicine and has expressed his desire to go off to Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine to earn his DVM and specialize in Internal and Emergency Medicine. After work, Matthew likes to go home to spend time with his plethora of animals; 2 albino guinea pigs named Bolder and dash, his 4 year old snake, and his 4 dogs; Diamond a 8 year old Pitbull, Lily an 7 year old Pitbull who he nicknamed 'cyclops', Samson a 4 year old Pitbull mix and his Great date named Alex.
