Dr. Dechamma Ballaranda DVMVeterinarian / Owner
Dr. Ballaranda hails from coffee grower community in Southern India. Just after graduation, being passionate about animal welfare she started working for animal shelters (SPCA Bangalore) and other animal welfare organizations. She worked in New-Delhi for an Animal shelter affiliated to RSPCA (Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) U.K., as a Veterinarian in charge for 4 years. Afterwards, she was a surgeon at a small animal referral hospital run by the Federal Government in New-Delhi for 6 years. Dr. Ballaranda completed the ECFVG program for foreign veterinarians before joining Banfield, the Pet hospitals in 2007.
She wanted a place that she could call her own and that is exactly what she got from the lovely caring family of East Detroit Animal Hospital. She believes in building a strong relationship with patients and clients by empowering clients through proper preventative care education and teamwork.
While not at work she loves to spend time with her family, and nothing comforts her more than her furry babies Dyno and Rea. She likes to travel as you can guess. She says, 'I pretty much work, eat, pray, love.'
The man behind the scenes. In charge of budgeting, receivables, and accounts payable; Scott's budgeting and planning skills has allowed the hospital to acquire new equipment as well as update the work place environment. Scott is our happy and smiling face of Monday mornings!
Kellie AVeterinary Nurse, Hospital Manager
Kellie's the 'go getter' of EDAH. As a Veterinary Nurse, Certified Ultrasound Technician, and Hospital Manager, she over sees the day to day operations. Kellie's passion at work is veterinary dentistry (ask her to show you some pictures!). She makes sure that every patient and pet parent is comfortable and as happy as they can be. She has fur babies of her own: Jena and PJ (Shiba Inu's), Roxy (GSD), Misty (DSH) and the trouble maker Berlios (DSH). Kellie believes that pets leave paw prints that last a lifetime.

Christine -Veterinary Technician
My name is Christine Fix, and I am a Licensed Veterinary Technician.
I’ve always been drawn to animals from a very young age. After
school I spent a fair amount of time with my childhood dog, Rusty,
for comfort and friendship. I originally wanted to become a
Veterinarian, but things changed over time. I switched pathways in
college to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician instead. I
graduated from Macomb Community College’s Vet Tech Program in May
2019 and became licensed in August 2019. After honing my skills at
two other veterinary hospitals and working through the COVID-19
Pandemic, I started working as a Vet Tech here at East Detroit Animal
Hospital. I still have more to learn and hone, but I’m always ready
to help animals in new ways. When I’m not at work, I spend most of
my time at home with my family, my two cats (Buttercup and Millie),
and my dog (Daisy).
I'm Victoria; I've been part of the veterinary field since 2014. When
I'm not at work, I'm with my loved ones and my little fur babies
Ava, Chewie, Bloo & Binx)
working to further my education in the field.
love to learn and am looking forward to gaining more experience in
the vet field.
